The Sussex Postman by John Witherden

"Being dead Sonny, is no excuse for not finishing your round." The ancient Postmaster snarled down at him, his grey face infused with anger. Jamie, whose head was under the rather boot large belonging to the Postmaster decided to agree. 

Call-up papers, last wills and testament, missives from the Ministry of Defence, monetary offers; Jamie didn’t realise the variety of human characters within a round. 

A Postman’s job wasn’t just about delivering rectangular envelopes but by understanding the joy and sorrow that they could give as Jamie was about to find out!
